Racers,
Thanks to everyone
who came out to the Santa Ynez Valley National
presented by Platinum Performance. The event was a
raging success organizationally with very few
problems with the races, results, and for the most
part, most of the racers were happy. We couldn't be
more ecstatic with this aspect of the event and
can't wait to start working on next year's SYV
National. Thanks to all our volunteers and staff
for all your hard work.
The next thing on the
calendar is that that the Stump Grinder Dirt Club is
scheduled to open up for riding every weekend
starting May 30th. Gate fees are $30 per
person, or you can join as an annual member for $300
and get some perks & benefits. Just click on the

I do want to people
to know and understand that because of the
blistering
temperatures reaching over the 100 degrees, at the
SYV National, our race day attendance was down
approximately 600 racers. This has had a negative
effect on our bottom line and has brought up
questions and concerns regarding several of the
races slated later in the year. Thus, taking into
consideration the time of year the summer series
would take place and the time it would take away
from my family, the Summer Series is simply not
feasible for us to do. I apologize but I have
decided to cancel the Summer Series at the ranch for
2008.
The other events
later on the calendar are still a go. I know that
some of you will be upset about this decision, I
just ask you to understand that while I’m passionate
about providing a place to race for all of you, my
family must come first, and they do. So
with the outstanding debt from the national, the
potential of high temperatures all summer, my
decision is final and very reasonable. For those of
you who can’t see this
as reasonable or if you think that it “effects your
credibility Mike” I really feel for you. There are
many more important things than racing your bike on
the weekends. It took me a long time to realize
this, like 25 years, but man it’s the truth!
On a positive note we
really can’t wait to see you at the SGDC, a private
mountain bike riding area, only open to you, and
built for you throughout the summer! And thanks for
your support.
